You're not going to like my answer to this problem....

Sounds like a problem with contiguous memory or possibly different memory
speeds....the animation gets put into two different memory locations,
since you've got memory in two different places, so that when the
animation plays back, the first part plays okay and then it has to pull
the second part from a completely different memory location (which may be
much slower than the first).  In general, memory access directly from the
motherboard is probably faster than memory access from the FastLane card,
or it could be the other way around...you may have very slow memory on
the motherboard and very fast memory in the FastLane.

Try finding some diagnostic software to test memory speeds and contiguous
memory chunks...I think AIBB is a good one and it can be found on most
FTP sites....this will tell you which bank of memory is faster and which
bank of memory is causing the slowdown.

The only way I know of to correct the problem is to move all the memory
to one location and make sure it's all the same speed...if the memory on
the FastLane is faster than the A4000's motherboard memory, then you're
gonna have to lose the motherboard memory and buy more memory for the
FastLane if it can support more than 16megs.

You need to get the biggest chunk of contiguous memory possible with the
fastest speed possible...I know that DKB makes a 128meg RAM board that
does a nice job for playing back anims with the Toaster 4000, but with
the money it's going to cost you to populate that RAM board, you could
buy a used PAR with hard drive or maybe even a Flyer!

A simpler and cheaper solution would be make your animation smaller so
that it will fit into the biggest chunk of contiguous memory without
spilling over into the slower memory, but this doesn't sound like an
option for you since you're having problems with playback after only 3
seconds worth of animation.  =(
